The Brief

Sue Nickson had worked on her book for almost two years, interviewing locals, sourcing images and writing the book.

In this project, I worked with another designer. We were responsible for designing the front cover and over 120 inside pages for the In Common Memory book. The target audience for the book are the local residents of the commons, many of whom are elderly. Liaising with printers was also required to ensure the right paper and finishing effects were produced, and to ensure the paperback books arrived in time to be sold at local events. All profits gained went to the local charity, Peppard Relief in Need. the project's budget was limited, and therefore the book needed to be produced at a low cost.

  • Photo Editing

Over 100 photographs and scans were provided by the client for her book. Some of these photographs were not high enough quality to be used in print and others needed to be edited. Photoshop was used to crop and straighten images. Levels and contrast were also altered to improve the overall image along with cloning out objects and removing marks.
